Missing the point

The BBC News website's report on Islamic State's claim of responsibility for the atrocious nightclub massacre in Istanbul tells us various things about IS's statement: (a) that it claims it was behind the attack, (b) that it says it was carried out by "a heroic soldier" and (c) that it accuses Turkey of shedding the blood of Muslims in Syria.

Something, however, is missing from the BBC's account of the IS statement. The terrorist group's statement, as quoted by the Guardian, says
In continuation of the blessed operations that Islamic State is conducting against the protector of the cross, Turkey, a heroic soldier of the caliphate struck one of the most famous nightclubs where the Christians celebrate their apostate holiday.
The BBC has missed out the religious aspect of the killings - that IS says it was deliberately targeting Christians and "the protector of the cross".

The BBC has had a long record of censoring such absolutely crucial details (as we've recorded many times at ITBB over the years), and it's depressing to see that they are still doing it.
