The Gulf of Truth

This is a very interesting comment from the Open Thread, which I thought deserved a blog post of its own:

There are some here who keep up with U.S politics and are aware of the gulf of truth between the BBC / Guardian take on the impeachment process and the actual course of events over the last 3 years.
I don't like Mr Trump, and I don't trust him, but he is selling anti-war tickets and that's good enough for me. The reporting on what is taking place in the U.S is beyond a joke.
Unless people know who Lisa Page and Peter Strzok are, it's pointless discussing Trump with anybody.
In recent months, aware voices from the left (Jimmy Dore (the American George Galloway), Tim Pool etc) have been blurring the left / right dividing line of commentary which is fascinating to me, and echoes my own perception of modern times.
Compare and contrast the two articles I've provided links to (and a few of the more recent articles featured on Moon Of Alabama). Notice the details - like actual names and sources - as opposed to the vague narrative of The Guardian / BBC.
The wierdest aspect is that the BBC keeps backing itself into corners from which it can't escape. It provides narratives or omits facts that it can't return to without highlighting its own initial failings.
Its Syrian war coverage, the Saving Syria's Children documentary, its coverage of Israel, Hungary, Turkey, France, The Netherlands, the US, black on black violence in the UK, the ongoing migrant crisis and the Tommy Take Down Panodrama are really lacking because those subjects weaken the narrative they wish to promote.

  1. Yes, I periodically bang on about the misrepresentation by BBC (and UK MSM in general)of the Trump administration. Robert More of ITV News is if anything more crazily deranged on Trump than the BBC. He's been predicting the demise of an "increasingly beleaguered President" and his "chaotic administration" for years now.

What I see is a President whose economic policies have created millions of "jarbs" as Trump would call them. He's put a lot of investment into infrastructure. He's revised the NAFTA trade agreement to the US's advantabe. He's scuppered the dodgy Globalist Pacific Trade Deal. He's taken on the Cheating Chinese on trade and, if not exactly won, has at least stuck a stick in their spokes. He's managed to get the North Koreans to essentially halt their ICBM nuclear weapon programme. He's avoided any major wars with ground troops.

The Democrats's use of impeachment has been illegitimate and thus undermines their constitution just as Remainers' decision to politicise the courts, undermine people's faith in their votes and use the Speaker to abolish separation of powers has undermined our constitution.

    1. Leading on from your comment about the Green Party under another article, it is quite bizarre that 4 years ago David Malone of the Greens released this excellent anti TTIP video :

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6fDCbf4O-0s

It was Trump that put TTIP very firmly on the back burner, and it was the EU Commission that were fully behind TTIP, and it was the BBC that avoided mentioning TTIP, or the anti TTIP marches in Germany and France, although the 'project' was very far down the tracks and would have affected many aspects of life and legality.

Odd that David Malone and Donald Trump have at least that in common.
