It doesn't really matter about the particular merit of his suggestions - it is a marvel that anyone in public life, so craven has our approach become, to actually make positive proposals that could have some effect.

We need a proper debate and consideration of a number of possible policies, backed by law.

Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3272054900018746845.post-44855961595527138152016-04-14T14:46:48.050+01:002016-04-14T14:46:48.050+01:00What no one seems to realise (or is perhaps prepar...What no one seems to realise (or is perhaps prepared to admit) is that the polling will inevitably have UNDERrepresented extreme opinion. Most Jihadis and Jihadi sympathisers aren't so stupid as to think that the security services couldn't one way or another get access to such polling results. And many Muslims are very careful not to show their religion in a bad light - I am sure we all have seen for instance the TV discussion programmes where apologists for Islam wriggle and squirm, dodge and deny, and never admit anything when confronted with the plain fact that punishment for apostasy under Sharia is death, pure and simple. I am not surprised therefore that stoning as a punishment had so few supporters, but if you explained to a devout follower of Islam (assuming they didn't know already) that Mo approved of stoning, then they could never condemn it honestly they could only do so as part of a policy of taqiyya.
