It is hard to see what possible professional reason he is on the BBC's books, but then I look around the rest of their global estate at such as JonDon, Orla, etc and it all becomes clear.Emmahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11550976834509947355noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3272054900018746845.post-61681515958630525882015-07-12T23:04:43.332+01:002015-07-12T23:04:43.332+01:00I think you are being a little unfair to MM (I'...I think you are being a little unfair to MM (I'm not a fan of his - he has definitely blotted his copybook with pro-migration bias). The flavour I got from the programme today was that Syriza had failed to factor in the democratic current in other EZ countries (e.g Finland and Hungary). I think he challenged the Syriza spokesperson for being "unrealistic" on that count. It's...The BBC is absolutely biased on this one. It's all as pro-EU and in favor of Greece staying in as humanly possible. Their problem is that nobody has any idea what's actually going on or what's really going to happen, so they all fall back on their gut feelings. Which basically translates into lowest common denominator garbage like hand-wringing over the humanitarian crisis and "But..but...but..democracy!" Their ideology tells them that the Germans must forgive Greece their debts and hand over as much cash as possible to ease the suffering of pensioners and the unemployed under-25s. The fact that this is also pro-EU and pro-Eurozone is about as incidental as defense of the BBC is to certain defenders of the indefensible (who shall remain nameless so they don't get a Google alert about a posting of their name and decide to waste our time).

Mardell is the quintessential old lazy Socialist, so of course he will see things in terms of "Happy Status Quo" vs. "Enemies on the Right Waiting to Pounce". Any pro-EU viewpoint is considered normal, mainstream, and an opposing view can only be extreme other side. We saw this over and over again in his reporting from Europe (if only you could have seen the smoke coming out of his ears when the European Parliament elections shifted to the Right in 2009) and of course about his beloved Obamessiah's policies (except Libya).David Preisernoreply@blogger.com
