BBC One's News at Six and News at Ten both failed to report that Boris Johnson's withdrawal bill passed its final stage yesterday, gaining Royal Assent, and became law - a historic moment, after the past three years of Parliamentary turmoil. The BBC's failure raised a few eyebrows:
Baroness Meyer:
Can you believe it? BBC News did it again! WAB got royal assent today, but this historic moment wasn't mentioned on the 6 o'clock news. Did the BBC not notice or is their Remain reflex so deeply ingrained? Hardly surprising the BBC is less trusted than ITV.
You're seriously telling us, BBC News, that the European Withdrawal Bill receiving Royal Assent isn't 'newsworthy'?
Can you remember the BBC News headlines when there were victories in the Commons by those who opposed the withdrawal bill? Such blatant bias in not even mentioning Royal Assent for it noticed by licence fee tax payers!
The BBC are a national disgrace. And this is just sour grapes on their part.
ReplyDeleteIs it no wonder that I can barely watch their News programs. But if I do then it's just to monitor the sheer bias that they're spewing out.
How can such an important story like this not be newsworthy. Makes no sense.
John....North London.
'Sour Grapes'. This description is quite correct John. Imagine the EU flag-waving on Westminster Green if Brexit had been halted and reversed. Imagine also the champagne moment in the BBC newsrooms and corridors if the Remainers had won the day. The BBC are a national disgrace and heads should roll - but, I read that Lord Hall is moving on to become Chair of the National Gallery - having 'steadied the BBC ship'.
DeleteMuch more important stories took precedent yesterday
Delete- Victoria Derbyshire show being axed
- five missing dogs still a mystery
- Grammy awards are rigged
Arthur, I noticed that the Withdrawal Bill result made the headlines of The Daily Express. And I suppose we have to partly thank them for getting the ball rolling with their 'Lets Quit The E.U Campaign.'
DeleteInterestingly when I did ever watch The Victoria Derbyshire Show, which Charlie mentioned, she was never actually there. I realize why now. The same misfortune happened to me (Okay now though).
So perhaps the show should have been pulled a few years ago.

ReplyDelete... 'Brexit: EU leaders sign UK withdrawal deal'. ...
No fanfare from the BBC - the story is tucked away on the Europe pages of the website.
And about 20 seconds of coverage way down the list of stories on the BBC lunchtime news.

This story has been removed from the BBC News website Home page after approximately two hours.
Arthur, You beat me to it!
DeleteJohn....North London.
Just a few hours ago a historic moment took place in Brussels with the signing of the E.U Withdrawal Bill, ending our 46 years in the E.U. club.
ReplyDeleteAnd watching the 1:00 pm BBC1 Lunchtime News it was clear that the BBC chose to bury the story placing it sixth on their list of News stories.
I even timed their coverage of this E.U. Withdrawal story down to a full 19 seconds.
And as we know, the Six O clock and Ten O clock News will do exactly the same.
Even on their BBC online website it's deemed as low as the 12 most important story, way behind Taylor Swift's eating disorder. Who is she?
I imagine they'll all be wearing black armbands at the BBC on Friday the 31st January.
John..... North London.
It's jaw-dropping. The News at Six was even worse.
DeleteTime to stop funding this useless bias programme scrap the tv licence.
