Loss of income, and therefore pension, loss of friends and colleagues, of meaning in life is a powerful whip used to keep the journos in line, not that many of them need too much persuading. <br /><br />But they must at some level feel dirty and inauthentic when they edit video misleadingly, give dishonest accounts of demonstrations or apply the whitewash to Islam.
