Thereafter I think Labour took a political decision to go after the gangs in order to stop the rise of the far right (correct usage) BNP which at the time was making headlines (they actually won a few councillors here and there). I very much doubt this advice was given in 2008 and in any case it reads like a paraphrase of what I imagine was a typical sociology-first Home Office doc.

Incidentally just as it is no coincidence that all these gang trials end late on a Friday afternoon (how does that happen!!!), so it is no coincidence that this guy out of all the CPS staff was picked out to take the prosecutions forward. Exploited and informed choice simultaneously. No contradiction there. Presumably that went to Chief Constables and was meant to be *your* police officers, rather than *you* police officers. Doesn't say much for the standards of literacy or intelligence of those working in that department. How did it pass scrutiny and get signed off and sent out?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3272054900018746845.post-20641753134046418662018-11-18T10:29:55.419+00:002018-11-18T10:29:55.419+00:00The word 'explosive' gets used a fair bit,...The word 'explosive' gets used a fair bit, especially by the Indy and its six readers, so can be an exaggeration.

Not here.
