Or how about having panels of 4/5 on Newsnight, when every single member is pro-Remain? Or what about suppressing news items that don't fit the BBC 'narrative'? etc, etcSisyphushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02650372666915304667noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3272054900018746845.post-19325473077286800972019-01-13T14:04:39.311+00:002019-01-13T14:04:39.311+00:00I still like the question in the title of this blo...I still like the question in the title of this blog. It invites debate rather than rants. I can’t help feeling on biasedBBC, if the BBC was biased towards the right (something I would find equally concerning) most of the contributors would have no complaints at all. However that isn’t where we are now. The liberal/left bias is overwhelming.

I am no longer surprised by far-left Corbynistas who seem to believe that the BBC is a bastion of right-wing extremism, but it does make me wonder where the BBC would be in the event of a Corbyn government. I recently read an Amazon review of a book criticising BBC bias in which the reviewer claimed “proof” of how far to the right the BBC was by citing a study by a left-wing academic. Says it all, really.

At what point does bias become plain dishonesty?
Terrynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3272054900018746845.post-90447467227288956982019-01-13T03:00:30.451+00:002019-01-13T03:00:30.451+00:001. I think You Tube is a very effective way of getting your message across. :) Put up lots of screenshots from the BBC website with voice over comment.

2. The BBC is purely engaged in Sharia promotion so cannot tell the awful history of violent invasion, mass executions of POWs, enslavement and worse of wives and daughters, religiously-based discrimination, piracy in the Med and also on our shores and kidnapping of young chilren to feed the mighty imperial armies of Sharia.

3. I think we are actually heading back to full on Victorian prudery at the behest of a certain religion recently settled here. The whole point of PC Multiculturalism is you have to work to the lowest common denominator ie bring about a state of affairs where no one gets upset. That inevitably means returning to a kind of Victorian sensibility about the sex instinct in order to placate Muslims, Evangelists and others who have migrated here and brought with them their retro morality.

I'm not personally a fan of the F word in public discourse particularly, although I admit I may have intimated its usage here now and again with an "eff" or a "f---" out of pure frustration. Generally it's better to find a richer vocab...unless of course you are actually engaged in a real tank battle where such usage might be forgiven! They can do that by creating this Soubry nonsense and arresting a person for saying "boo" on the street - while ignoring 10,000 other offences by leftists who also said "boo". Christianity/Israel: I suspect that many people, today, imagine that the Christians who are being persecuted in the Middle East are fairly recent arrivals, who have brought their troubles upon themselves by attempting to evangelize the local muslim population. Tell them that they have been in Israel & Egypt since the beginning & that, by the 6th century AD, virtually the whole of North Africa & Asia Minor was Christian & they will struggle to believe it. If the BBC does anything to disabuse them, I've missed it.

3. 'Poetic swearing': Absolutely! - there was a correspondence about the over-use of the word 'fuck' in, I think, the Daily Telegraph about 20 years ago. Among the contributors was a retired High Court judge, who said that, while he quite agreed that over-use rendered the word meaningless, there were times when its use could be sheer poetry.

During the War, as a subaltern, he had been a tank commander in the Western Desert. He had been issued with a particularly unreliable tank, which broke down several times a day. Eventually it coughed & spluttered to a halt, belching out clouds of smoke & steam; with temperatures of 125F+, his cockney driver-mechanic disappeared yet again into the engine compartment and, after much banging & clanging, emerged to announce, "The fuckin' fucker's gone an' fuckin' fucked itself...'asn't it Sir?" As his Lordship said, 'Sheer poetry'!Sisyphushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02650372666915304667noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3272054900018746845.post-21276815872129052422019-01-13T01:11:08.212+00:002019-01-13T01:11:08.212+00:00No they don't.
