Was there some outside event caused this coincidental coordination?

I remember a few years back, the last time there was a push for drugs legalization on the BBC, the Today Programme had on some activist advocating for it. His reason was that a teenager who got busted for possession would have a criminal record that would ruin his life, which would be unthinkably cruel. So the laws must be changed to protect them from such a fate.

Basically, we must legalize drugs for the children.David Preisernoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3272054900018746845.post-23858974824899727382015-02-21T12:48:30.378+00:002015-02-21T12:48:30.378+00:00Personally I favour complete decriminalisation of ...Personally I favour complete decriminalisation of "recreational" drugs. In fact I would go much further and have state manufacture to minimum standards (and with accompanying health warnings), and licensed dealers. If necessary the state should for a period subsidise the cost, so as to put the illegal drug industry out of business.

However, I do dislike the way the BBC - and Easton is one of the worst offenders with his sly "signposts" inserted into his nominally balanced reports (usually of the "on the one hand you have a load of old, embittered and undereducated people who oppose this and on the other hand you have increasing pressure from the young, optimistic and educated part of the population for society to become more...whatever it might be that he agrees with."

Other tags to look for:

"Surveys show/suggest/can be interpreted as..."

"Beginning to question..."

"Increasingly less popular..."

Most of it boils down to: "You don't want to become part of a small despised minority do you? Better start changing your viewpoint now."

Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
