Many of us have given up on the BBC-we just KNOW what the likes of Mishal Husain is going to say on any topic-and immigration in the run up to the Referendum, even more so.
"You found it biased"-well of course you would-any sane person ditto....so why bother?
Go out on a sunny evening-enjoy the hope that we`ll stuff the likes of Husain on Friday morning.And-even if we don`t-we all know now the nature of the political elite in all their manifestations-and the blowback will visit them with a vengeance very soon...we despise them, and this one litmus test re staying or leaving has been as good a filter of the real patriots from the liberal suckups as any in my lifetime.
Ta for watching though-the BBC is no longer a part of most peoples lives-especially the youngsters-and it will go before the EU insh`Ali!chrishhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04198777332934873417noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3272054900018746845.post-2081560549507276042016-06-20T20:40:16.018+01:002016-06-20T20:40:16.018+01:00Thank you. And I'm not unhappy to have them here with us either'.
I enjoy reading your blog generally and agree with most of your opinions, but on this issue, I'm afraid we differ - I think the downsides to mass immigration from Eastern Europe far outweigh the benefits.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3272054900018746845.post-74350462170506103652016-06-19T23:47:45.752+01:002016-06-19T23:47:45.752+01:00The immigration issue is a symptom of the democrac...The immigration issue is a symptom of the democracy problem. Germany's leader can simply wave her hand, and all countries are affected whether they agree or not. That's not democracy, and it's evidence of the erosion of national sovereignty, regardless of one's opinion of the overall benefits of immigration or downsides of rapid, mass immigration.David Preiser (USA)https://www.blogger.com/profile/00055001852090086556noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3272054900018746845.post-89779146119194689552016-06-19T22:25:30.092+01:002016-06-19T22:25:30.092+01:00I really don't think I said that. Are you saying that as long as immigrants "don't want to change us or blow us up or decapitate us in the name of their religion", it's ok to let in huge numbers? Those are pretty low standards. The BBC's own numbers estimate that an enormous number of houses will have to be built to accommodate all the extra migrants we have (2 million EU migrants have moved here since 2004). Even if they all love the UK and don't want to behead us all, this will have a devastating impact on our natural resources and green spaces. The South East in particular is being carved up by bulldozers as we speak - and this is a large part due to EU migration.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3272054900018746845.post-49953516366134314752016-06-19T21:00:57.568+01:002016-06-19T21:00:57.568+01:00I agree it was biased. But not quite as outrageous...I agree it was biased. But not quite as outrageously biased as I expected, having seen the BBC Remainiac coverage so far. Her delivery was so bland that some of those teeing up points will have been lost on the viewer. None of the Mark Mardell-style actory exclamation marks, tones of pity, disbelief and fervent agreement - or glum resignation.

Did you have a listen to More or Less - that was way more biased. Presenting "independent experts" they knew were pro-Remain, as though they might have concluded other than that Remain was good. But they were given a final arbiter.

Then there's this guy who might have come up before:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=USTypBKEd8Y

Professor Dougan...he's been employed as a consultant by the BBC presumably on stuff like "Reality Check" but now admits he is a complete Remainiac - leading one to suspect this isn't a sudden last minute conversion. And while I don’t believe that the Leave campaign has concentrated entirely on immigration, their has been a certain emphasis that has tended stifle the more important arguments for being independent of the EU. It has certainly been all too easy for the Remainers to argue that immigration is at the core of the Leave case, with all the associated implications of implied racism. Mishal Husain’s programme is a case in point.

My spellcheck keeps wanting to change Remainer into Retainer and Mishal into Mishap. Is my computer trying to tell me something? A silly point I know, but it made me smile.Terryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05818860172734529356noreply@blogger.com
