Simplistic? Yes but rather more convincing than the “hidden hand”.Terrynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3272054900018746845.post-71571092833389452172018-08-27T12:48:15.669+01:002018-08-27T12:48:15.669+01:00That "I couldn't face it" feeling is...That "I couldn't face it" feeling is one I often get when it comes to revisiting BBC programmes to listen again for bias!Craighttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08741318067991857821noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3272054900018746845.post-39863352960336353962018-08-27T11:39:50.683+01:002018-08-27T11:39:50.683+01:00I find it very reassuring that both you and Kathy ...I find it very reassuring that both you and Kathy Gyngell picked up on Paddy O’Connell’s jarring interventions.

If I ask myself why I chose to focus my post on the contents of Sir John’s article rather than Paddy’s response to Prof. Abulafia, I have to confess (it’s not exactly a confession) that I’m almost resigned to subtle attitudinal inferences within much of the BBC’s output - to the point that you have to wonder if it’s really a thing - or just a figment of one’s own paranoia.

Of course the BBC’s (and the press’s) uncritical embrace of Peter Oborne as a pundit is another unsettling factor that one has to resign oneself to.

I had intended to listen again to the BH paper review to go into the matter of Paddy’s line of questioning myself, but in the end I couldn’t face it. Instead I transcribed two of Tom Barton’s contributions, hoping that the way he spoke - as if walking on eggshells - would come across. Almost hesitant and slightly terrified lest he caused offence, which he was bound to do, whichever way he put it.
suehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02693686958796849316noreply@blogger.com
