State of Radio 4 Continuity

If you didn't hear it, I suspect you might enjoy Lionel Shriver's pro-Brexit State of the Nation on Radio 4 today, which balanced out Howard Jacobson's anti-Brexit piece on Monday. What you won't hear though if you listen via BBC Sounds is how the Radio 4 continuity announcer mispronounced Lionel's name both before and after her talk. Both times Ms. Shriver was made to rhyme with 'shiver' rather than with 'diver'. It didn't ruin her talk for me though, you'll be pleased to hear.

  1. I was a little surprised at the mangled pronunciation. It’s not as if she is a stranger to the airwaves. It was nevertheless a very thoughtful and interesting 15 minutes.
