Beams and motes

Matthew 7:5 - Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.
For someone who gets very prickly when criticised on Twitter, the BBC's John Simpson may need a mirror and copious supplies of eyewash here:

  1. Oh, Moral John, how righteous thou art. And the moral level of recent presidents may not be all that high. But never mind that. Is the Trump right or wrong? You're a reporter and an analyst, instructing us grandly on world affairs, so please do some of that famed analysing. We should be told.

  2. Consider the World Affairs Editor, how he grows in self-importance: he toils not, yet he don't half spin; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like John in his finest Savile Row suit and tie. And he can hold his drink, unlike that Sweeney bloke.
