Jade sees the light

There was a BBC-style Pilgrim's Progress story on last night's The World Tonight

Radio One's Newsbeat had canvassed its listeners for their views on immigration from Romania and Bulgaria. One girl, Jade from Bradford, had expressed reservations, so BBC reporter Jim Taylor took her to Romania to see what she made of it.

Can you guess what happened?

I guessed even before the report started. I just knew that Jim would help Jade 'see the light' and change her mind. And, lo, it came to pass:
Jim: Time for Jade to reflect on what she's seen in Romania and whether it's changed her views at all.
Jade: I felt quite overwhelmed. The way that people were living amongst pigs and stuff. It was just awful. If I heard someone say now, "All these Romanians and Bulgarians are going to be coming!", I would definitely correct them because it just doesn't seem the case at all. I mean, there's always going to be the odd person who comes and is going to do what they can to live off the system, and that's always going to happen, and that's the case in the UK as it is with British citizens. Now I still think there's a problem with integration. I could probably understand more now why people would want to come.
And another BBC angel gets his wings!

  1. When the BBC brainwash us relentlessly with a message, they tell themselves they are "educating`" as Lord Reith instructed. Thus, they tell themselves, no need to act as journalists, no need to bother with balance or complexity or with anything at all they don't feel like, because of without their "education" we would all be raging racists, homophobes, etc, indeed some of the most reckless and delinquent among us might not even vote Labour!
