Here, totally randomly, is an extraordinary piece of wartime footage showing the elderly King Christian X of Denmark inspiring his people in Nazi-occupied Denmark by riding out, through the streets of his capital, unguarded and unarmed, every day:

The king's back story is fascinating. The myth that he wore a Star of David whilst riding through Copenhagen to show his solidarity with Europe's Jews is a myth, but it turns out to have a large and inspiring grain of truth to it.
