Come to think of it, our current political narrative is a bit like a Thomas Hardy novel: just when you think it can't get any worse, it does.
Let's hope someone of a sunnier disposition than Hardy takes over and writes a happy ending.
Certainly, there are plenty of signs all over Europe that we are over the worst in terms of pressure on our health services and the daily death toll is beginning to decline.
Laura Kuenssberg seemed more interested in knowing who was in charge and the functioning of government than she was about his health when interviewing Dominic Raab. During Laura’s subsequent analysis she said given the national emergency it was a terrible time for the government to be without its figurehead.
That sounded like a ‘what a bad time to fall ill’ rebuke rather than a sympathetic analysis to me.
