The UK’s youngest MP - @NadiaWhittome - is donating £44,000 of her £79,000 salary to charity in solidarity with nurses and firefighters. https://t.co/XHI6coY8Sj— George Eaton (@georgeeaton) December 15, 2019
A certain new Labour MP might have been blushing this morning, for Mr Marr was singing her praises on his programme today:
Andrew Marr: For people cynical about politics, there is one 23-year-old MP who is doing something quite remarkable.Anushka Asthana: Yeah, Nadia Whittome, who won for Labour in Nottingham East, 23 years old, and guess what she's going to do? She's going to give half her salary to local charities.Andrew Marr: Half. That's a lot. Good for her!
I am very surprised that Andrew didn’t offer to chip in. Quite honestly, if I was one of Nadia Whittome’s constituents I would rather she kept her salary and served the community by doing her job well.
ReplyDelete£35K plus expenses is not a bad income for a 23 year old! Plus she will now earn a lot of money as an inspirational speaker engaged for various virtue-signalling events.
