"Here are the PM's words spoken by a member of our team"

The stand-off between the BBC and Downing Street continues, with the BBC's refusal to broadcast Boris's Brexit Night address to the nation now extending to a refusal to broadcast any part of it - hence this absurd moment on today's The World This Weekend:
Mark Mardell: On Brexit night Boris Johnson addressed the nation. For reasons we don't need to go into here the BBC is not using Downing Street's recording of that speech, but here are the PM's words spoken by a member of our team.

  1. On Twitter lots of people commented.
I still find no explanation as to why they won't show it
In October they broadcast a Corbyn speech in full and it was 10 times as long.

    1. It's a regular thing in the USA now - the media refuse to broadcast the President's speeches and addresses, instead preferring to use snippets and biased paraphrase.

  2. And to think the BBC used to object to having to do that when it came to Gerry Adams.

    1. It did remind me of 'The Day Today' and the Sinn Fein/IRA man being made to inhale helium "to subtract credibility from his statements"

  3. The more times they do this, the more irrelevant they become as people look elsewhere for news. Guido Fawkes shows the whole thing (order-order.com).

  4. I heard it. Well, I think I did. I still can't believe what I think I heard! The BBC broadcasting an actor reciting Boris's recent words! They have now completely lost their minds.

    1. this must have been authorised and instructed by someone very senior - Fran Unsworth?

Unbelievable action from the supposedly free, fair and impartial BBC.
