“RTs are not endorsements”

Aha. I see that BBC home editor Mark Easton response to the results of the election is to re-tweet the following:

    1. Would that be Jon Sopel, ex President of the University Labour Club, Southampton University? I expect it is.

He quotes wiseacre Steve Richards on the reasons for the election defeat for Labour and Lib Dems. Richards claims that the Lib Dems and Labour could have simply denied the PM his pre-Xmas General Election. Imagine if they had followed the Richards Plan - we would by now have been in total chaos...the end of January extension deadline would be looming. Labour, Lib Dema and their hated allies like Grieve, Soubry and the rest would once again have to (with Bercow's connivance) put in place legislation to make Boris go back to the EU and ask for yet another extension.

Is that really tenable? Or would both Labour and Lib Dems be suffering in the polls as a result?

Steve Richards seems an amiable enough bloke - more a historian than an analyst. He's completely wrong on this. But I guess his words are comfort food for the Beeb clan.
