Crash Norman

Norman

Talking of Norman Smith, here's something from this weeks' Newswatch:
Samira Ahmed: First, the B-word has again dominated the news this week with much discussion of the likelihood of leaving the European Union without a deal in place. That was one of two possible outcomes laid out recently by the BBC assistant political editor Norman Smith:
Norman Smith: One, another referendum on Brexit itself, or two, crashing out of the EU without any deal.
A number of viewers have taken exception to the phrase used at the end there with Ian Frost asking:
Ian Frost: Why does the BBC use the emotive term 'crashing out of the EU'? 'Crashing out'? It could be a soft, gentle and fluffy occurrence - no one knows. Come on it - the water's lovely!
Indeed.
