You can't please everyone

[Last night's] debate on the BBC was the fairest I have seen, and - in an old fashioned way - allowed us to hear what the Leaders had to say. I congratulate Nick Robinson on that - for somehow leaving behind the appalling bias he normally gives vent to on Today. :) ... He conducted the debate fairly with minimal interruptions for either Leader. It was all the more refreshing for that. His interventions were light touch and to the point.

Catching up with it myself this morning, I agree. From the audience to the questions, from the interruptions to the hurryings-on, this was the fairest I have seen too.

[Kiss of death applied, Nick's BBC career duly goes up in smoke!]

Of course, there are many, many Corbynites on Twitter who will disagree:

  • BBC bias on show again! Always “Very briefly Mr Corbyn” but not so for Boris!
  • But the ‘none bias ‘ BBC, set the camera full front on Johnson, side view of Corbyn majority of the time.
  • Even the filming was disadvantage to Corbyn cutting to Johnson eye rolling etc absolute disgusting bias as usual from Bbc.
  • If you didnt already know Nick Robinson had been a Tory since the 80s, you would after that shambles of a debate.
  • Why doesn't let the presenter let jeremy talk Ffs? Stop talking over the man and let this be a fair debate. Bbc bias showing once again!
  • May aswell just have Boris talking for an hour. Nick Robinson isn’t leading this debate he’s just wing-manning Boris the Blithering Idiot.
  • The worst debate so far.
  • I'm appalled at a once fine political journalist NickR obinson mashing up a debate on the British Broadcasting Corporation and letting the liar Johnson to boss the BBC Debate. Complete BBC bias.

None of these things are true.

*******

P.S. Does this surprise you?
