BBC One's 'News at Six' slips on a Banana skin

Historic moment in Zimbabwe

I was just watching BBC One's News at Six and was brought up short by yet another clanger from BBC News.

Introducing the programme's second story Sophie Raworth read out the following:
Zimbabwe has a new President, only its second in 37 years. Thousands of people celebrated in Harare today as Emmerson Mnangagwa was sworn in.
Well, that's simply wrong. Mr Mnangagwa is Zimbabwe's third President in 37 years.

They've obviously forgotten President Banana - the one whose name it was made a criminal offence to joke about (for some reason):

Canaan Banana 1980-1987
Robert Mugabe 1987-2017
Emmerson Mnangagwa 2017-

So another day, another embarrassing blunder from one of the BBC's flagship news programmes.

Seriously, is the BBC getting worse at this kind of thing? I don't remember them making so many mistakes in the past.
