Times chief reporter Sean O'Neill has just tweeted, "Listening to another breathless report about Thwaites Glacier and wondering if anyone has ever calculated the carbon footprint of environment correspondents...". Given that the BBC's chief environment correspondent Justin Rowlatt was just on Radio 4's PM ten minutes earlier reporting from Thwaites Gracier, I'm guessing Sean had the BBC guy in mind. Maybe the BBC needs an Ethical Man to rule on such matters.
Well done Craig, ten out of ten for your headline.
ReplyDeleteSurely there are shades of Grays in anything to do with ethics?
DeleteI have been slightly heartened by the events since the 2019 General Election.
ReplyDeleteWhether it will succeed or not, I have no idea, but I do feel there is a Great Pushback taking place at the moment.
It's kind of instinctual, kind of opportunistic but it is happening, as we see with the licence fee.
If only this Great Pushback could become more organised...

ReplyDeleteBy the way, as background, geologists seem to think that the thawing of the Thwaites glacier is due to underlying volcanic heating - of which there is much on that side of Antartica - unlike the opposite side where, when I last looked at the sttaistics, ice coverage was growing.
