#Ramadaninaday

Guzzy Khan, a teacher from Coventry

Talking about the predictability of Sunday Morning Live...

Here was how the SML website framed the central debate today:
In the run-up to the commemorations of the tenth anniversary of the 7/7 bombings, prime minister David Cameron has called on Britain to be 'more intolerant of intolerance'. The week also saw the launch of new counter-extremism requirements for teachers in schools.
Teachers' unions have spoken out about confusion and nervousness in the classroom. Is this the right way to fight extremism? Or do strategies like Prevent further ostracise already marginalised minorities? Teacher Guzzy Khan shares his thoughts on counterterrorism in the classroom.
After those two negative questions (both from the same perspective of disapproval of the new counter-extremism measures) came Guzzy Khan's report. Guzzy doesn't approve of the new counter-extremism requirements either. He thinks they are "ludicrous".

Now, Guzzy is much more than a "teacher from Coventry". He's also a comedian, and (as a Google search for 'Guzzy Khan BBC' will show) the BBC has been featuring him quite vigorously across its various networks recently (including the BBC Asian Network).

SML's new co-presenter Tommy Sandhu (from the BBC Asian Network) and Guzzy (Guzzy Bear on Twitter) appear to have a connection - the BBC and #Ramadaninaday. Which is nice.

  1. The narrative for this terrorist atrocity for this tenth anniversary must be "Nothing to Do With Islam", in honor of Ramadan.

  2. The go-to list on BBC producer iPhones does evolve, but remains as predictable as it is limited.

Along with the BBC's ongoing problems with proper context. Fraser Steel clearly OK with noble sharer of wisdom on this one vs. BBC speeddial gob.

  3. I see the BBC have taken to advertising Ramadan. They don't advertise the festivals of other minority religions in this way. What's wrong with these people?
