John Sweeney went roaring after Geert Wilders on last night's Newsnight, getting not one but two interviews with him (and yet still making it mostly about John Sweeney). Unusually, Mr Wilders didn't want out on the BBC man. The piece ended with John saying, lugubriously:
Many Dutch find his views not just repellents, but dangerous. So will Geert Wilders take power on March the 15th? Probably not, as the mainstream parties will do their best to block him. But there's no doubting this man is changing what was once the most liberal country in Europe into something quite different.
I suspect that Mr Wilders himself might reply that mass Muslim immigration is "changing what was once the most liberal country in Europe into something quite different".
The full version of the first interview has been tweeted as a separate video. It ends with something Newsnight viewers didn't see: John Sweeney turning to the camera and saying, "Well, some answers there...of a kind".
