A chap called Mark Lees has been doing the sort of thing I used to do, but doing it against all the UK's broadcasters (from Kay Burley to Laura Kuenssberg, from Robert Peston to Krishnan Guru-Murthy).
Just looked at the last 50 tweets or retweets on the timeline of Sky News journalist Lewis Goodall's Twitter feed. Of the 50 tweets 23 overtly criticise a political party. Of those 23: 19 criticise the Tories 3 criticise the BXP 1 criticise the Lib Dems 0 criticise Labour etc
In percentages: 83% criticism against Conservatives. 13% criticism against Brexit Party 4% criticism against Lib Dems 0% criticism against Labour 0% criticism against SNP And you wonder why people have lost faith in the media?
Former Labour Party activist Lewis will be returning to the BBC shortly as Newsnight's new policy editor.
Mark isn't the only one worrying about Lewis Goodall. Here's blog favourite Alex Deane (of Dateline London/Sky News paper reviews fame):

Par for the course. I heard Lewis Goodall pretty much declare himself a Blairite Labour supporter on TV once. It will be interesting to see how the Corbynistas treat him.
ReplyDeleteThat said, I think he is quite a good reporter in a way that many BBC reporters these days - people like Katy Adler, John Pienaar, Norman Smith, Mark Easton - are not.
I've seen him on Sky News from time to time and gives a good impression, coming across as smart, personable, articulate, confident. (Unlike some of the others.) He was probably recruited by Labour Adam Boulton).
