"I’m very sorry we got this wrong" - The BBC apologises for Naga Munchetty

If you recall:
Harvey Proctor v Naga Munchetty (Transcript: BBC Breakfast, this morning)

Well, I nearly missed that there's been a development this week:
The BBC has apologised to former Tory MP Harvey Proctor over an error made by a Breakfast TV presenter.
Mr Proctor, who was falsely accused of multiple murder by serial liar Carl Beech, walked out of a live interview about Scotland Yard’s shambolic VIP child sex abuse inquiry.
Naga Munchetty was quizzing him about Beech – alias ‘Nick’– who has been jailed for 18 years.
The presenter wrongly claimed Scotland Yard chief Cressida Dick had been cleared by independent reports into the force’s handling of the case.
Wonder if Lord Hall will step in again to 'correct' the BBC's apology this time?

  1. There is a full youtube vid

Commenters say she poured petrol onto the fire
... And that the LBC interview was much better.

Nick Ferrari though I would have closed him down if he started calling the Met chief a liar, cos that is libel. He'd have said "that's your opinion but we can't air libellous claims when the person is not here to defend themselves do lets move on"
but instead Naga tried to read outva lengthy Met statement and then added Dick had been cleared.
    ..when actually she hadn't.

  2. The Exaro guy Mark Watts also put out a vid edited down to only the minute
"STORMING OFF live on television this morning...
This sympathetic interview by BBC Breakfast’s @BBCNaga was, apparently, not sympathetic enough for Harvey Proctor because she dared to try to limit the damage of his wild, libellous comments"

  3. He had to fight for it, cos of course they dismissed viewers' complaints.
P"Proctor told Press Gazette he filed the complaint on Wednesday after the BBC dismissed viewer complaints regarding the interview, which broadcast on BBC One on 5 October

Responding to viewers’ complaints, the BBC found Munchetty had interrupted Proctor in order to “keep the interview on track”, but said this was done “politely and professionally”.
