Was diplodocus a herbivore or a carnivore? (And how do you pronounce it?)

Pachycephalosaurus

Blogs like this can be relentlessly negative (and guilty as charged, I'm afraid, in recent months), so I'm going to keep on congratulating today's Broadcasting House on Radio 4.

Why? Because Paddy O'Connell's interview this morning with a seven-year-old girl and dinosaur expert, called Briar-Rose, about her love of dinosaurs was an absolute joy to listen to. (I too was a youthful dinophile).

Please listen to it for yourselves and if you don't laugh at Paddy's complete inability to take on board the word 'Parasaurolophus' (after struggling with 'Pachycephalosaurus') and Briar-Rose's patient laughter as she tried to get him to pronounce the dinosaurs' names, then there's no hope for you.

A quiz followed, and Briar-Rose put the BBC firmly in its place with her knowledge.

Well done, Paddy!
